Information from The New Zealand Paedophile and Sex Offender Index, New 2004 Edition
Pleaded guilty to two charges each of sexual violation, indecent assault, doing an indecent act and one charge of having anal intercourse. The complainants were 12 boys under 12 and as young as four and five. Since he came to New Zealand in the early 1970s, Weightman had been charged with offences against 11 children and served two prison terms. He showed a disturbing pattern of befriending families with young children. He gained their trust and took advantage of the chance to abuse the children. A pre-sentence report said there was an enormous risk of Weightman reoffending.
