A Hamilton university student who sexually violated a sleeping 16- year-old boy in his care has been jailed for 15 months. Rowan Ngatara Reihana, 26, was sentenced by Judge James Rota in Hamilton District Court yesterday. He had earlier admitted sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault. Crown prosecutor Matthew Ward-Johnson said that last October 11 Reihana was looking after three teenagers at a friend's home.

The 16- year-old boy woke to find Reihana sexually abusing him. When interviewed, Reihana admitted he had placed the boy's penis in his mouth. Judge Rota said the boy would not have been aware he had been violated if Reihana had not confessed" "I accept that because of your own honesty you face a greater prejudice. I think I am bound to take that into account."
