Background
In the Auckland High Court, Justice Stevens said in summing up that Newson (a former printer) would enter his stepdaughter's bedroom naked after 6 AM as he got up for his shift work and would sexually abuse her. Newson had befriended the parents of a second girl who lived in his neighbourhood. He would frequently park his car in the neighbour's drive pretending to wait for his friends to return home when it was really to lure the girl to come over and see him so he could sexually abuse her.
