The Court of Appeal was told Nelson attended the Kia Marama programme at Rolleston prison and part of STOP programme but totally lacked progress. He also received $10,000 from ACC in 1992 but did not use any of this money to obtain further counselling. His indefinite term imposed by the High Court at Christchurch has been upheld
