A former Dunedin man was sentenced to eleven and a half years' jail for the May kidnap and rape of his former partner, and possessing an imitation firearm, when he appeared in the Invercargill District Court yesterday. Paul Michael Marsh was also sentenced to 18 months jail, to be served concurrently, for assault with intent to injure, assaulting a female, and assault of two other people. The incident began on May 23 in northern Southland, and ended with an armed offenders squad swoop at Berwick.
