Langley broke into his ex-partner's home, punched and dragged her naked outside and threatened to kill her. He then dragged her back inside and forced her to perform oral sex. She escaped and alerted a neighbour but they too were threatened into silence and the woman was recaptured. Finally she pretended to be unconscious but was again dragged outside where he sexually violated her with his fingers, threatening to slit her throat with a knife he claimed to have. Justice Laurenson said the case had "a huge element of indignity" on top of everything else because of the fact she was abused naked in public view.
