Background
From the Dominion 25th April 1997
A MAN whose former partner got a legal order to keep him away, broke the prohibition to assault and to try to rape her, Justice Heron said in the High Court at Wellington yesterday. The judge jailed Douglas Michael Haynes, 39, for two and a half years for both offences, and advised him to have anger management counselling. During a trial, at which Haynes was found guilty, witnesses said he had ignored warnings not to go to the woman's home after seeing her with another man.
