Background
From the Evening Post 30th October 1999
Treatment to stop sexual offending had not stopped a mildly intellectually impaired man doing it again, a Wellington District Court judge heard yesterday. Basil O'Neal Grace was given a suspended prison term in 1996, allowing him to be given rehabilitation for four charges of performing indecent acts on a girl under 12. With six months of the sentence, including treatment, left to run, he had started abusing a girl aged seven to eight years. Grace, 33, unemployed of Porirua, pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault. He was jailed yesterday for 15 months.
