The effects of sexual abuse on a young girl had been severe and long-lasting, Judge John Walker said in Blenheim District Court. The man responsible, Allen James Fearn, was sentenced to three years in prison on Friday on two charges of indecent assault, two of performing an indecent act, one of sexual violation and one of indecent exposure. The 38-year-old unemployed man had earlier pleaded guilty to all charges, which involved a girl aged under 12 years.
