Decision to grant Michael Curran bail was made by Justice Cooper.
"Consequently, I grant bail to Mr Curran. That bail will be subject to the following conditions:
a) He is to reside at 34 Haukori Street , Tauranga and, subject to the following conditions; he is to remain there for 24 hours each day.
b) He is to present himself at the door forthwith if the police call to inquire as to his presence.
c) Subject to having given prior written notice to Detective Sergeant Ridley at the Mt Maunganui Police Station or to the Officer-in-Charge of the Tauranga CIB he may leave that address
i) to travel to the Chambers of Mr Mabey QC, Realty House, corner of Wharf Street and Durham Street, Tauranga for the purpose of preparing for the trial; and
ii) travelling in the company of Mr Mabey to the scene of the alleged crime, in each case returning to 34 Haukori Street forthwith after the termination of his consultation with Mr Mabey.
d) He is not to associate with or speak to any witness whom the Crown intends to call at the trial, including those intended witnesses whose draft briefs of evidence have already been made available and any further witnesses whose briefs may be served. Such contact is prohibited whether face to face, by telephone or any other means of communication, including procuring third parties to have such communication.
e) He is not to own or operate a mobile telephone during the period of his remand.
