In the case of the earlier offences Collings was living with the victim's mother on the West Coast. He was looked upon as the girl's stepfather. Initially treated her well but soon began sexually abusing her. In the second case, Collings was in bed with the victim's mother and the two year old child. He began fondling the child but the mother woke up and stopped him.
