Hawkes Bay Herald Tribune story May 25th 1977
A 29 year old Hastings man was sentenced to a year's gaol when he appeared in court yesterday charged with indecencies against his stepson. The man, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty last week to indecently assaulting the boy and induced the boy to do an indecent act on him at Hastings on June 19th last year. Mr W K L Dougall, SM, suppressed evidence against the man last week, saying it was" too indecent"
Mr Dougall said the indecency was "a filthy thing to do with a 13 year old boy who is your stepson." Mr J M von Dadelszen representing the man, said the man was a "mild and inoffensive, unselfish person" He said the man had been "more sinned against than sinning".
