A Wellington transvestite and a man pleaded guilty to amended sexual abuse charges involving a six-year-old girl when they appeared in the High court at Christchurch yesterday. Anne Brown, aged 32, a prostitute, admitted unlawful sexual connection with a girl and stupefying her. Shane Andrew Gibson, aged 30, a forklift driver of Christchurch, pleaded guilty to three charges. He admitted attempted sexual violation, sexual violation and inducing the child to perform and indecent act on him. The two had previously admitted abducting the girl.

Justice Panckhurst remanded Brown and Gibson in custody until December 5th for sentencing. At the depositions hearing in September, Mr Phil Shamy, for the Crown, read a statement read by the young victim to police. In it the child described how she forced into a car while walking home from school during the afternoon on May 21st.

The girl told detectives how she was taken to house where she was stripped, showered and given food and wine before being sexually violated. She had been taken later to another part of Christchurch and put out of the car. She asked for help at a house.
