Sentenced to 4 years 6 months in September 2007
A non-parole period of 2 years 3 months was imposed
Background
From Hawkes Bay Today story 24th September 2007
The High Court at Napier was told the men would at times abuse the girls, aged six and eight, together. Ronald David Bayne, 39, of Hastings, pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual violation and four counts of indecent assault and appeared in the High Court for sentencing. Bayne moved into the home in February last year and the girls would come over at weekends and after school, where he and his friend would look after them. The abuse spanned six months before the girls told their aunt and mother. Justice Denis Clifford sentenced Bayne to four years and six months imprisonment. Bayne's boarder, Jonathan Craig, 39, of Napier was sentenced to four years and six months' jail in June.
From Newstalk ZB article here
Pre-depositions dates have been set for two Hawke's Bay men facing violation charges. Ronald Bayne and Jonathan Craig have today appeared in court on a combined total of more than 30 counts involving three primary-school-aged girls. The two are on a number of separate charges and they are also jointly charged on two offences. Both Bayne and Craig have been remanded in custody to reappear in the Napier District Court later this month for a pre-depositions hearing.
