National have replied as requested with a set of Yes/No answers. They responded in the affirmative to all of the questions bar one, that being question nine Abolish concurrent sentencing for all crimes under the Crimes Act with particular emphasis on Violent and sex offenders.
They also sent a covering letter explaining conditions for two of their other Yes answers, as follows;
For Q5) "We have ticked the issue relating to preventative detention for the criminally insane but we think the question should stop there because there are many prisoners with "a diagnosed mental illness" which may be quite mild.
For Q6); "We have ticked the issue relating to future prisoner compensation. National's position is that it would scrap the legislation but it would reserve an ability in terms of our Treaty obligations to make ex gratia payments through the Office of the Attorney General in exceptional cases."
