Sensible Sentencing Trust
We request Government introduce legislation that requires all people convicted of an offence be required to give a DNA sample.
Urgency must be given to compiling an electronic database to identify and deter repeat offenders.
In reality DNA is just modern finger printing, it is not some invasion of our human rights as Civil Liberties organisations would have us believe.
I am sure we all agree that knowledge is something we all strive to improve, even perfect.
The real invasion of our human rights has occurred over the last 30 years with the escalation of crime, Sensible Sentencing Trust believes that society has a right to expect a certain standard of behaviour from all of it's members, all of the time.
After all, the real victims of crime are you and I, as society declines; you and I pay.
For every "Human Right" there is an obligation, for every privilege there is a duty.
We cannot have "Rights" without "Responsibilities".
Sensible Sentencing Trust believe a comprehensive Criminal Data Bank would be as effective and useful to prove innocence, as it will be to prove guilt.
We have all heard of the stories of innocent people being found guilty on circumstantial evidence and spending time in prison.
We have the recent case where David Dougherty was convicted of rape only to be proven innocent by the advancement of DNA technology.
The Government introduced legislation that means dogs can be electronically identified.
DNA has the ability to revolutionise Law enforcement.
