It has taken the story about Lynne Carter's demise for Judith Collins to at last show an interest in the plight of "P" users families.
Ms Collins is now on record as acknowledging that "They (the gangs) are after our children. Then they destroy those people, their lives and their families".
She urges "us" to "Trust the Police" with information.
Christine Davey, SST Spokesperson on Drug Issues, has often sought from Ms Collins a flicker of concern for the many families she represents who are completely ignored when they beg Police for help - to no avail.
"We" certainly can't "Trust the Police" to help us intervene in our kids' illicit activity, which is indirectly attributable to gang drug trade, and which destroys our kids, their lives and our families.
But at least now Ms Davey realises what the problem is. "We" aren't socialites.
Millie Elder is, and Police regularly take an interest in her activities. But our kids and our families are apparently dispensable.
We're simply told that "P" is a family and community issue and we have to deal with it – with no tools whatsoever.
This attitude is an indictment on the NZ Government who steadfastly continue to maintain a head-in-the-sand attitude to the destruction of ordinary NZ families struggling to deal with "P" use in their families.
