(14th July 2009)
Following hard on the heels of a vicious murderer having his sentenced released, the Court of Appeal is at it again.
Leah Matena, Sensible Sentencing Trust Christchurch representative asks what has happened to the sensibilities of these people.”
"After being outraged at the reduction of the sentence last week of a brutal murderer and rapist with 61 previous convictions, the Appeal Court has now ruled to reduce the sentence of another rapist from eight years to seven years. This violent thug has six previous convictions including assault, willful damage, and disorderly behavior. He was allowed to continue on his criminal path to then rape a 16 year old girl in the street with her boyfriend present. What other sex attacks did they compare this one too?"
"How bad does the rape need to be, she was in the street, resisting and screaming, threatened to be killed, any women’s worst nightmare and yet this is not brutal enough?? The Appeal Court needs to wake up and realise that they are re-victimising these people all over again. I say it is time to abolish Appeal Courts, abolish parole, make criminals to serve full judge given sentences."
We have had ENOUGH!!
