(24th May 2005)
The sentencing of the criminals that committed the cowardly and extremely violent invasion at the home of Peter and Maggie Bentley takes place in the Rotorua Court on Thursday 26th May at 10am.
This is an important event for the future of all New Zealanders, the Judge will have the opportunity to hand down a deterrent sentence and send a loud clear message to all criminals contemplating similar crimes.
"Crimes such as the invasion of Peter and Maggie Bentley’s home will no longer be tolerated."
"The Courts will no longer turn a blind eye to crimes of such a cowardly and despicable nature."
"Law abiding citizens deserve and are hereby given an assurance that this crime and any similar such crimes will meet the full force of the law."
The Sensible Sentencing Trusts asks:
Will the Judge have the courage to deliver such a message?
Representatives of the Sensible Sentencing Trust will attend the Court in support of the Bentley family.
Regards,
Garth McVicar
National Spokesperson,
Sensible Sentencing Trust.
