A prominent Criminal Justice watchdog organization has called for recidivist Sex Offenders to be chemically castrated and has promised to start a web site to expose their identities.
The call comes after public alarm at the escalation in sex offences and the apparent inability of Judges to give effective deterrent sentences. There has also been public outrage after a number of Sex Offenders have moved or been placed within unsuspecting communities and close to schools. The latest incident being in Blackball after an offender with previous offences breached his parole conditions and moved into the community.
The Sensible Sentencing Trust says they are sick of the Government dragging their feet on this issue and have vowed to use every method possible to protect innocent women and children from sex offenders and paedophiles.
Trust spokesman, Garth McVicar said the Government have been dilly-dallying with Legislation for years, in that time hundreds of innocent women and children have become victims of the lecherous abhorrent actions of these sex offenders. "Our pathetic soft on crime laws have put the rights of the offender before the rights of the victim and allowed them to be recycled time and time again. That must stop".
"Our promise to New Zealand is this, we will immediately get started on a web site to expose the identities and location of known sex offenders and lobby all political parties to introduce legislation making it compulsory for a recidivist offender to accept chemical castratation as part of their parole conditions", said Mr McVicar.
"Like all members of the community, these guys had choices — they chose to re-offend, we believe they must now suffer the consequences for their actions".
"Our women and children must be protected from the despicable actions of these low-life predators. If our Government and our Judges refuse to protect our precious youngsters - then we will".
