(5th July 2004)
A song that was written to bring about change in New Zealand's justice system has already had impact beyond the creator's wildest dreams.
The Sensible Sentencing theme song "Enough is Enough" was written and sung by two very inspirational women who are both victims of horrific crimes.
The aim was to bring about changes to the administration of parole and to try to create a more victim orientated Justice System.
With the announcements yesterday that National, if they become Government, will abolish parole for the recidivist violent offender means the song has already achieved some of these objectives.
"Enough is Enough" is an easy listening emotional ballad. One of the singers is Kelly Pigott who lost her daughter to a horrific murder, the other is Rowene Marsh whose brother is a convicted double murderer.
The Sensible Sentencing Trust believes this song will go down in history as being a catalyst in bringing an end to the rampant and ever escalating violent crime epidemic in New Zealand at present.
"Enough is Enough" will be available through all Sounds Music stores from tomorrow onwards.
