(2nd July 2004)
The question everyone will be asking when Dr Brash addresses a Sensible Sentencing Trust Rally this Sunday is; will he sing the right tune?
The Sensible Sentencing Trust national spokesman, Garth McVicar said the Trust campaign to abolish parole moves up a gear with the release of their theme song at the meeting on Sunday.
He said "Enough is Enough" is an easy listening emotional ballad that has been written and sung by two very courageous ladies who are both victims of horrific crimes.
Kelly Pigott is the mother of six-year-old Teresa Cormack who was abducted, raped and murdered by Jules Mikus in 1987.
Rowene Marsh Potaka is the sister of repeat violent offender and double murderer Gresham Marsh who appears before the Parole Board later this month.
Both women have joined the Trust's campaign to abolish parole for violent criminals, and the song highlights the inadequacies of our present justice and parole system from a victim's perspective.
Mr McVicar said that Dr Brash has already proved that he is not afraid to tackle the hard issues, but whether he will have the courage to abolish parole is yet to be seen.
Dr Brash will outline National's Law and Order policy at a Public Meeting to be held at the Ellerslie Convention Centre 2 PM this Sunday, 4th July. Everybody is welcome
Regards,
Garth McVicar
