The Government changes to the parole provisions in the proposed new legislation are a "small step in the right direction" said Garth McVicar of the Sensible Sentencing Trust.
The Government and Phil Goff in particular seem to be prepared to listen to what the Public are saying, he said.
We can not say the same for Peter Williams of the Howard Reform League, who stated that prison is "not conducive to a well balanced and normal person".
A "well balanced and normal person" would not commit the sort of offence we are talking about.
The Alders, Roma's and Hotene's of this world deserve "Natural Life", and we will continue promoting this with all parties in parliament at present.
92% voted for Justice Reform - that hasn't been delivered yet.
Thank you
Regards,
Garth McVicar
