Millionaire Sam Kelt speaks for the first time about the attack by a boy racer which has changed his life. Nicola Boyes reports.Sam Kelt is not a fan of being in the media. Sitting in his mirror-glassed Hastings office, speaking for the first time since the July assault which left him with serious head injuries, the 43-year-old says he is sick of headlines and for-god's-sake do not take a camera near him.

Kelt made national news when he was punched by boy racer Raponi Terangikatukua Wilson, 20, in an early morning altercation on Mt Maunganui's Marine Parade in the Bay of Plenty. His skull was fractured in up to 20 places and his eye socket was broken. Wilson was convicted of assault and sentenced to 200 hours' community work. Kelt will spend the next 12 to 24 months trying to recover. The head injury means everyday life is a little more difficult, but Kelt says he is taking it a day at a time.
