From Otago Daily Times December 1999
A man on life parole for murdering his wife attempted to rape a 17-year-old woman within a month of his release from jail, the High Court at Christchurch has been told.
Anthony Weke (43) admitted breaking into a woman's sleepout on February 13, attempting to rape her and attempting to sexually violate her.
He had been released from prison in January after serving just over a decade for the murder of his wife. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1988. Justice Young yesterday sentenced Weke to six years' jail and warned him he was likely to face preventive detention if he offended again.
