NZ Herald story Saturday the 30th July 1994
"A man convicted of the murder of a transsexual in October was yesterday sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment by Justice Fraser in the High Court at Christchurch. Gregory James Toka, aged 26, a gardener, was found guilty by a jury of murdering Brenda Adriana Kingi, 33, who died of multiple stab wounds. A ceremonial sword was found embedded in her body when the police arrived at her flat. Justice Fraser made no order as to the minimum period Toka should serve."
