Background
The Rotorua High Court was told how Tawha took his 14 year old victim to the beach with her consent, then started talking about his past particularly about his prior rape conviction which made the girl nervous. He the demanded her to take off her pants but she refused. He then threatened to rape her but she continued to refuse. She then tried to get out of passengers side of the car but the door was locked. Tawha then pulled down her pants and forced her to perform oral sex on him. Despite her pleas for him to stop Tawha then fondled her genitalia and put his finger in her vagina then unsuccessfully tried to rape her.
The 14 year old victim is still suffering to this day. She was very upset that she could not speak to any male police officers about what happened. Her victim impact statement describes that she has since been in heaps of trouble. She is hard out into drugs now and has been expelled from High School for drugs. She drinks heaps now; never used to. She is now less talkative. She hates boys and no longer likes dating obviously because of what this monster did to her. She steals now, shoplifts and swears extensively. She has also attempted to commit suicide.
