Sentenced to six years September 1996
Background
From the Waikato Times 18th September 1996
Three men who stormed into a Hamilton house and demanded drugs and cash before beating a male occupant with a loaded shotgun were jailed for six years in the High Court at Hamilton yesterday. Before jailing Joshua William Oliver, 24, Allan John Todd, 23, and David Jeremy Stace, 20, Justice Hammond described the July 22 attack at the Maeroa property as "clearly premeditated."
Crown prosecutor Louella Dunn said the man who was attacked feared he would be blinded in one eye after the shotgun was jabbed into it. He also suffered a broken cheekbone and still experienced blurred vision and dizzy spells, she said. The three men earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, injuring with intent and possession of a firearm to commit a robbery.
