Man gets Life term for murder of wife
A man convicted of killing a woman after stabbing her 24 times was sentenced in the High Court at Timaru to life imprisonment on Wednesday. A jury ealier found sickness beneficiary Anthony John Hartley Smith aged 34, of Timaru, guilty of murdering his de facto wife Joanne Sarah Shore on December 7th at their Timaru home.
Sentence was passed by Mr Justice Holland after the jury of five women and seven men took almost two hoursto reach its verdict
