Background
From Brian Harmer's WYSIWYG New Zealand News 31 August 2000
A man has appeared in a court in Rotorua on a murder charge, accused of using a motor vehicle as a weapon. Twenty-six-year-old Raymond Cory Ruri has been remanded in custody for a psychiatric assessment. The murder charge follows the death of 44-year-old Robert David Jenkins on Friday night at Ngakuru. Police allege Ruri and Mr Jenkins had a fight, and a short while later Mr Jenkins was killed instantly when he was hit by a car which was later found abandoned. Ruri was interviewed by police on Saturday morning and charged later that day with murder.
