Background
From the Evening Post 04/12/1999
Moki continued to deny the charge and had put the community to the trouble and expense of a trial, he said. He had also been given a two- year suspended sentence in 1994 for rape. Moki was sentenced to seven years jail for aggravated robbery and four for kidnapping, to be served concurrently. Defence counsel Val Nisbet said the sentence might be appealed.
Pui and Moki met the 24 year old woman for the first time at a party, the offenders insisted she go with them to another party. The victim went in a car with the offenders, the car stopped and the victim was raped. Pui was the primary offender, Moki was a party.
