Background
This was considered one of the most brutal killings Christchurch police had dealt with. The judge labelled Williams a "psychopathic killer". The only motive was that one of the victims had supposedly told the police that Williams was in possession of stolen pork. Williams and Pope kidnapped the victims, shot them in the head and dumped the bodies in the sea.
