Background
The Wellington District Court was told Nuku had been in the city with his mates and his girlfriend. Nuku and his girlfriend had an argument. Nuku's girlfriend left then met up with the victim and walked together. They all met up again and an argument occurred between Nuku's girlfriend and another girl. The victim intervened and attempted to calm the girls down. Nuku stabbed the victim seven times with a pocket knife soon after.
