A man who tied a woman to a bed subjected her to indignities, raped her, took photographs at the time and threatened to send them to other people, Mr Justice Neazor said in the High Court at Wellington yesterday.

Roger David Mercer , aged 33, had pleaded guilty to rape. He was sentenced to four and a half years jail. Mercer tied her with a rope, Mr Justice Neazor said. He dragged her along with the rope, tied her to the bed, then committed several assaults on her and various serious indignities as well as the rape.
