Background
From the Dominion 07/11/2001
FOUR men who robbed a security van of $120,000 as an ATM machine was about to be replenished with cash in December 1999 were jailed for up to nine years yesterday. Judge David Holderness said in Christchurch District Court that he considered 8 1/2 years an appropriate sentence for Robbie James Edward Marino, 42, James Robert O'Connor, 34, and Jacob Tamati Ryland, 28. However, six months would be added to O'Connor's sentence and Marino's sentence was reduced to seven years. The fourth man, William Henare Brown, 28, was sentenced to eight years.
