Background
In the Auckland High Court Justice Rhys Harrison said the offences warranted a starting point of 20 years but told Kite he was entitled to a substantial reduction in sentence to reflect his guilty plea (saving his young victims the trauma of reliving these experiences by giving evidence and the public expense of a trial), remorse and previous good character. Kite will be deported to Tonga upon completion of sentence.
