An unemployed Blenheim woman who attempted to rob the town's National Bank branch last month has been remanded in custody for sentencing next week. Huriama Glenda Hapakuku, 39, pleaded guilty in the Blenheim District Court yesterday to aggravated robbery, assault using scissors, rendering a person incapable of resisting and injuring a person while committing a crime.

A woman who wrapped a phone cord around the neck of a teller and threatened to stab her during an attempted robbery in Blenheim's National Bank last October was jailed for four years yesterday. Huriama Glenda Hapakuku, 39, was sentenced in Blenheim District Court on charges of aggravated robbery, assault, rendering a person incapable of resisting, and injuring.
