Background
Fitness, a Johnsonville postman and former leader of the Christadelphian Church youth group, pleaded guilty to five charges of indecent assault on girls aged between five and 16. He had been attending a programme for sex offenders because he knew he had a lifelong problem. The court was told the assaults were serious because five children were involved and the acts were repeated. The offences occurred from 1976 to 1979 and 1989 to 1993. He met the parents of the victims through the Christadelphian Church. Fitness took the children on camping trips.
