Havelock North man Shane Francis Clearwater, 35, has begun a three year sentence for raping a young girl. Last Friday he also received concurrent sentences for two counts of sexual violation, and one charge of indecently assaulting the girl. Clearwater had earlier admitted the charges. The offences took place between 2002 and 2005 when the girl was aged between 11 and 15, and came to light after she complained to a school nurse.
