In the Auckland High Court, Justice Fogarty said when sentencing Carmichael that he hoped Carmichael would be eligible to attend the Te Piriti programme for child sex offenders at Paremoremo prison and recommended that upon release Carmichael not be permitted to have contact or be associated with a person under 16.
